Planned Mail Storage Migration - UPDATE
Posted on: Thursday 5 April 2007, 10:02
This is an update to the previously published planned maintenance announcement regarding upgrades to our email storage platform.. A copy of the original announcement can be seen here:-

Last year a replacement storage platform was installed as part of long term plans to expand and bring additional stability and resilience to our customer facing email platform. This implementation based on Sun StorageTek equipment was unfortunately not without its problems and over recent months we have been busy building a more suitable and stable alternative.
We had originally planned to start moving customers to the new email platform last week. Unfortunately this work had to be put on hold due to the recently encountered problems with the existing solution.
Now that these problems have subsided we intend on starting the copying of data to the new platform. Initially we will begin with a small subset of customers. This will primarily be Free Online customers with usernames beginning 'zi'. Pending the success of this work, we may then begin the migration of more customers as the day progresses.
We would like to remind customers that they may experience a short interruption in service as their data is copied across to the new platform. More details regarding the impact of this work can be found in the original planned maintenance announcement.
It is envisaged that the transition to the new email platform with take a number of weeks to complete so we will aim to provide regular progress updates where possible.
Kind Regards,
