Email

This is an update to the previously reported issue regarding the increased volume of unsolicited email being sent to some customers' mailboxes. A copy of the last update can be seen here:-

Our incident team are continuing to investigate the events that led to the illegal acquisition of email addresses from our Webmail database.

Earlier today the decision was made to remove Webmail from service. The platform will be offline until further notice whilst we identify an alternative solution. Further details can be found in the maintenance announcement posted earlier this afternoon:

Precautionary measures are still in place preventing access to our web portal from IP addresses that have not been registered in the UK. This may affect some customers trying to access our website from external Internet connections.

Customers who normally access their email using our website are advised to use an alternative third party web-based mail client such as mail2web.com. Details for using mail2web can be found on the holding pages we currently have in place when attempting to access Webmail:
http://portal.plus.net/general/webmail.html

Alternatively customers can configure a local email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird in order to download their emails to their machine. Further details on how to do this can be found on the help pages on our portal:

We will begin emailing our entire customer base this afternoon in order to provide a further update.

Kind Regards,
