Incoming Mail Delays (46314) - UPDATE

This is an update to the previously reported problems resulting in occasional delays in the delivery of emails to customers' mailboxes. A copy of the last announcement can be seen here:-

This morning saw the completion of the work to upgrade the anti-spam package on our mail delivery servers:-

The final piece of the work to block email from hosts with no rDNS entries was also completed successfully:-

This is in conjunction with other smaller pieces of work that have also been completed over recent weeks.
So far the results of these efforts have proved promising. Reports of delayed email have become progressively less frequent and internal monitoring of our systems has shown a marked improvement.
We are aware that there are occasions during busy periods of the day when our mail platform refuses to accept new connections. This can cause a short delay when a sending server tries passing email to our platform. Investigation into the things we can do to mitigate this is under way, however for the most part customers should no longer be experiencing significant delays in the arrival of any of their email.
We will continue to monitor the platform and will review customer feedback over the weekend with a view to returning Service Status to green early next week.
