We've received notification from BT Openreach that they have declared what they refer to as an MBORC (Matter Beyond Our Reasonable Control) in certain areas of the country. This has the potential to cause fault resolution delays due to recent bouts of severe weather.

A copy of the notice is as follows:

"Following the severe weather, including gale force winds, heavy rain and flooding that caused damage to our network, both above and below ground, Openreach declared MBORC for repair activities, in six areas, on Friday 27 December 2013 and in a further three areas, with effect from Monday 30 December 2013.

Due to the prevailing conditions, Openreach is now declaring MBORC for repair activities in the following four areas with effect from 00:01 on Tuesday 7 January 2014:

Cumbria
Mid Wales and Shrewsbury
Swansea
Truro

MBORC for repair activities remains in place in the following areas:

Belfast and Province (Northern Ireland)
North Wales
East Downs
Central Downs
West Downs
Esher
Croydon
Crayford

We have been directing available additional resource into the affected areas in order to bring the position back to normal as quickly as possible.

We will be monitoring the situation and will remove MBORC from these areas as soon as service can be restored to levels they were at immediately before this severe weather. "
